Completed in 2014, the 240 Blackfriars development provides 220,000 sq ft of commercial office space over 19 storeys, a small residential block and ground floor retail units. The energy strategy included highly efficient chillers and boilers and low energy LED lighting system with intelligent lighting controls, allowing the development to achieve a 25% improvement over Building Regulations. The optimised sustainability strategy for the Shell & Core ensured successful BREEAM certification (one of the first project to achieve an ‘Excellent’ rating using the BREEAM 2011 New Construction scheme) and assisted the achievement of LEED ’Platinum’ rating for one of the tenants’ fit-out (international publisher UBM).

Prior to founding Blue Skies Environmental Consulting, our Director - whilst at Hilson Moran- led the sustainability work of 240 Blackfriars Road.
