Aberystwyth University’s Institute of Biological, Environmental & Rural Sciences (IBERS) was offered £25m to develop an international teaching and research facility dedicated to solving problems related to food supply posed by climate change. Marie developed the optimised sustainability strategy for the two new campuses (Penglais & Plas Goggerdan) and carried out the BREEAM Design Stage Assessments for the scheme which received the Best in 'Excellent' Category BRE Sustainability Award - Wales. The scheme also achieved a high scoring Energy Performance Certificate reflecting the optimised energy efficiency strategy and inclusion of systems to provide renewable energy. A woodchip-fuelled biomass boiler was selected, and the university aims to be fuel self-sufficient through the future production of elephant grass and timber crops.

Prior to founding Blue Skies Environmental Consulting, our Director - whilst at Ramboll led the sustainability work of Aberystwyth University Penglais & Plas Goggerdan campuses.
